Artūras Paulauskas 
Artūras Paulauskas was born on 23 August 1953.

In 1971, he graduated from Šiauliai 2nd secondary school and entered the Faculty of Law, Vilnius University. In 1976, he graduated from this Faculty and gained the speciality of the lawyer.

1976-1979 Investigator at Kaišiadorys District Prosecutor's Office, 1979-1982 Kaišiadorys District Deputy Prosecutor, 1982-1987 m. - Varėna District Prosecutor.

1987 appointed Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Lithuania.

1990-1995 Prosecutor General of the Republic of Lithuania, 1995-1997 - Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Lithuania. 1997-2000 private legal practice.

In 1997, he participated in the presidential elections of the Republic of Lithuania.

On 19 October 2000, he was elected Chairman of the Seimas during the first sitting of the 2000-2004 Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.

In 2002, he participated in the presidential elections of the Republic of Lithuania.

6 April 2004 - 12 July 2004 Acting President of the Republic of Lithuania.

On 25 April 1998, he was elected Chairman of the New Union (Social Liberal) Party during the founding congress; member of the board of the New Union (Social Liberal) Party. On 9 February 2002, during the 3rd Congress of the New Alliance (Social Liberal) Party, he was re-elected Chairman of the Party.

Married. Wife - Jolanta. Four children. Two sons - Andrius and Vilius - from the first marriage. Son Arnas and daughter Aistė - from the second marriage.

Speaks Russian and English.

Hobbies - literature and sports.

He was elected to the 9th Seimas according to the list of Brazauskas and Paulauskas' Coalition "Working for Lithuania".
