Vilnius, April 23rd. Acting President Arturas Paulauskas of the Republic of Lithuania received today the Deputy Chairman of the Polish Parliament, Tomasz Nalensz.
The meeting focused on the perspective of co-operation between Lithuania and Poland, the European and transatlantic issues, trends of trade development, implementation of joint infrastructure development projects and national minorities.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the situation in Iraq, preparation for the elections to the European Parliament and relations with neighbours in the East.
Signing of the agreement between Lithuania and Poland on friendly relations and good geighbour co-operation has opened a new phase in the strategic partnership between the two countries that allowed them to make considerable progress in the development of their bilateral relations and in reaching the shared foreign policy goal of joining the European Union and NATO, the acting President of Lithuania underlined.
Acting President Arturas Paulauskas noted with satisfaction the intensifying co-operation between Lithuania and Poland in the fields of defence, economy, trade, tourism and other areas, as well as the growing weight of both states on the international arena.
